COUNTY VOTER GUIDES WITH RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES
I always encourage everyone to do your own research, but for those looking for a little help, you might find the resources below helpful. Feel free to share with others. Many people welcome the help from a trusted friend.
I’m including a graphic and a PDF version of each guide and a graphic or information about early voting options in each of the counties below.
Johnson County
Because of some unique circumstances in both Prairie Village and Blue Valley, the QR code on the guide directs PV and BV voters looking for more information to the links below:
Prairie Village voters: Use the link to find information on the ballot initiative and more
Blue Valley voters: Use the link for critical information about your school board races, including side-beside comparisons of the candidates.
Consider sharing the above links with friends in those areas.
NOTE FOR GARDNER: The Voter Guide below has been updated to include Kelly Johnson & Dawn Kirtley for city council.
WRITE IN CAMPAIGN IN SPRING HILL: What began as an uncontested mayoral race in Spring Hill has become a write-in campaign after the candidate on the ballot announced her family is relocating.
I don’t know much about this race, but if it helps, a trusted friend in Spring Hill is recommending current city council president Chad Young for mayor over Rodolfo Arevalo whose name is on the ballot for two different city council positions. They also recommend Brian Peel for the At-Large (4 year term) city council race on the ballot, and have no recommendation for the At-Large (2 year term) race.

School Board Races Across the State
Game On for Kansas Schools issued endorsements in races across the state where they are seeing candidates running whose priorities are out of step with the needs of our public schools and the children they serve. See their Facebook post with more information along with the recommended candidates for the districts in the graphic below:
Give Game On for Kansas Schools a follow on Facebook and Instagram. Their support for public education in Kansas is unmatched and they are a great source of information throughout the year, but especially during the legislative session (starting in January) and around election time.
MORE SCHOOL BOARD RACES
Below is some helpful information and some recommended candidates in a few other school board races in Kansas.
Hays School Board
Five candidates for three spots. Sources on the ground say all are good options except for Kelly Ancar. I’d recommend reviewing the Q&A’s for these four candidates
Frank Brooks
Curt C. Vajnar
Meagan Zampieri-Lillpopp
Craig Pallister
to see which three resonate with you the most. If it’s helpful, I did read a post from a Hays resident with a good assessment of the Q&A’s in which they determined those first three as their top picks.
Lawrence School Board
Shannon Kimball
Kelly Jones
Matt Lancaster
Topeka USD 501
NEA Topeka is recommending:
Ashley Beason
Keith Tatum
Lisa Schmitt
Randall Schumacher.
Auburn-Washburn USD 437
For the contested races:
District A, Position 4: Keneth Johnson
District B, Position 2: Joe Faul
District C: This is a tough one to weigh in on without being in the community and I’ve gotten conflicting picks from my contacts in the area.
Goddard School Board
No extremists were noted in this race and information was limited on some candidates, but these three candidates stood out:
Ruth Wood
Shane Ewing
Melanie Graber
Colby School Board
We’ve heard no extremists are running in Colby, but it was difficult to find a lot of information on candidates. I did find one questionnaire answered by Daniel Blake which suggested he would be a good school board member.
