Help me alert KCK/Wyandotte voters ASAP; Senator Haley needs to hear from constituents
Senator Haley may flip his NO vote on the flat tax bill and help override the governor's veto. Big risk to our public schools!
Below I’m sharing some of the graphics from our recent Six Degrees of Activism Instagram post to make this Substack a little less wordy. Feel free to share with others. Read on for those graphics and info on:

A little background on the Flat Tax
Immediate Alert for KCK/Wyandotte area voters
We’ve gotten word from our friends at the Voter Rights Network of Wyandotte County and others that Senator Haley (D-Kansas City) is considering a vote to override the Governor’s veto of the flat tax bill.
As a reminder:
The flat tax benefits wealthy Kansans and provides very little benefit to the majority of Kansans.
It greatly reduces state revenues, putting funding for public schools and other state services at risk.
For these reasons, the governor vetoed the bill. Other tax cut plans have been introduced that provide more benefits to every day Kansans while also protecting school funding.
Here’s a map of Haley’s district. Or, use openstates.org to confirm if in Haley’s district.
If you live in Haley’s district, let us know by replying to this email. It will help us get information out quickly and directly to those who need it.
Town Hall TODAY (Saturday)
Haley has called an emergency town hall today. Please encourage anyone you know in the KCK area to attend. It starts at 1:00, but arriving late would likely still help to show Haley his constituents are paying attention.
Calls & Emails also needed
Constituents can also make an impact by emailing and calling Senator Haley. He needs to know his constituents are paying attention. Calls and emails can be made up until the point a vote is taken. We don’t know when a vote will take place, so sooner is better.
You can share this email or the graphics. After the graphics I’m including a copy & paste version of the email example in the graphic to make contacting Haley even easier.

SUBJECT: HB 2284 – Sustain the Veto
Dear Senator Haley,
As your constituent, I urge you to sustain the Governor’s veto on HB 2284. The flat tax provides little relief to every day Kansans in your district, while providing big benefits to wealthy Kansans. The flat tax is projected to create a budget deficit in 5 years. We cannot risk budget cuts to our neighborhood public schools for the minimal savings provided to the majority of Kansans.. Please consider other tax cut plans, like the Governor’s, that would bring more benefits to your constituents and protect our schools.
Respectfully,
